The Yadagirigutta Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple, one of the most revered spiritual sites, is undergoing a stunning transformation. The temple’s gopuram (tower) will soon shine with golden tiles, marking a major step in its renovation.
Divine Transformation with Golden Gopuram
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has launched an ambitious project to renovate the Yadagirigutta temple. After the Maha Kumbha Samprokshanam (consecration), he decided to cover the temple’s gopuram with pure gold. Temple authorities have already started installing the golden tiles on the main gopuram.
On the day of the Maha Kumbha Samprokshanam, Revanth Reddy and other donors pledged gold for the project. The CM and his family contributed 16 kilograms (kg) of gold. Former CM Revanth Reddy and other devotees donated another 22 kg of gold. The authorities estimate the total cost of the gopuram’s gold covering at ₹65 crore, which will require 127 kg of gold.
Donations from Devotees
The temple has received donations from devotees, although the response has not fully met the target. So far, the temple has collected 11 kg of gold and ₹20 crore in cash. Minister Konda Surekha and other temple officials recently reviewed the project’s progress. The company Smart Creations, based in Chennai, is handling the gold installation.
Gold and Silver Contributions
Temple hundis (offering boxes) have brought in substantial donations of gold and silver. Reports show that devotees have contributed around 1300 kg of silver and gold jewelry. Temple officials transported the donated gold from Chennai to the temple, where priests performed special prayers before using it to cover the gopuram.
The temple has set aside ₹7 crore for labor costs related to the gold installation. The golden tiles will soon be affixed to the main gopuram, completing the vision of a gleaming, golden tower.
